Black Moon Lilith is not a planet, an asteroid or a piece of matter. It is a calculated lunar point connected with the Moon's apogee, the farthest part of its elliptical orbit from Earth. I think of it as a void in the sky: an absence that reveals what has been pushed out of sight.
In medieval Jewish folklore, Lilith is imagined as Adam's first wife, formed from the same earth and unwilling to accept a lesser position. She leaves rather than shrink herself into obedience. Older Mesopotamian stories are darker and more complicated, while modern astrology and witchcraft have reclaimed Lilith as an archetype of sovereignty, sexuality, magic, exile and uncompromising truth. Some modern spiritual paths connect her with Hecate, although that is a later association, not an ancient family line.
